Fergie has set the record straight after a 2007 interview resurfaced online, in which she said Quentin Tarantino bit her while filming “Grindhouse”.
The 42-year-old spoke with Entertainment Tonight’s Katie Krause outside the wrap party for the first season of the Fox singing competition “The Four: Battle for Stardom”, held at Delilah in West Hollywood, where she dismissed the story and said the interviews are being taken out of context.
“First off, I stand with victims everywhere no matter what genre, race, gender, age. I stand with victims period, and I don’t want to take away from anyone’s story,” the singer explained. “That just wasn’t my story.”
Tarantino has been under a microscope in recent days after Uma Thurman shared horrific footage of her car crash while filming a scene for “Kill Bill”, with the director insisting that Thurman take the wheel of a car that should have been driven by a stunt driver.
The Jezebel website then unearthed the Fergie chat. The musician appeared in Robert Rodriguez’s contribution to “Grindhouse”, which also featured a standalone story directed by Tarantino.
In the on-set interview — which appeared as a bonus feature in the “Grindhouse” DVD release — the former Black Eyed Peas singer is shown discussing her role in the Rodriguez-directed “Planet Terror”, revealing that Tarantino was on the set to fill in as a marauding zombie — and got so into character that he actually bit her hard enough to leave a mark on her skin.
“As I was filming the scene where the zombies attack me, Quentin really got into it. I think he had a lot of fun with that,” Fergie said. “He’s doing the whole run with me, so it’s great. So I look over and see Quentin, and I have to kind of visualize this zombie-esque character. And we kept having to re-do the scene because he was so into being this creature that he was making all these noises. And he was blaming it on the other guys, but really Quentin was making all the noise.”
In another interview in the DVD extra, Fergie added: “So I’m doing the scene, right. And he starts biting me.”
Rodriguez them chimed in: “It wasn’t that bad. It wasn’t like a bite, she wasn’t bleeding or anything. Certainly you felt some teeth on flesh. It happens, people get into the role.”
Later in the clip, Fergie showed off her bruised arm, declaring: “Quentin f**king bit me. And by the end of this shoot, I will bite him back.”
