According to Drew Barrymore, dating in the digital age is not as easy as it seems.
While appearing on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” on Friday, the 42-year-old “Santa Clarita Diet” star shared her online dating disasters.
“Here’s the deal. Ever since I was a teenager and excited about the idea of dating someone, I always had fantasized about a blind date, which I had never and will never be able to have —on my side, at least,” Barrymore said. “When the whole dating apps started, I remember eHarmony said, ‘Answer 25 questions and we will place you.’ I was like, ‘What are the 25 questions? And who would they place me with?'”
Several years later, Barrymore took the plunge and signed up for “Raya”, the celebrity dating app.
“I heard Amy Schumer saying she met her boyfriend on there,” she explained to DeGeneres. “Then one night, I’m flying home by myself and I’m like, ‘Screw it! I’m going to fulfill my fantasy and go on a dating app! Do a blind date, but not really.’ So, I went on it and no one responded.”
After being unsuccessful, Barrymore left the dating app — or so she thought.
Days later, her ex-husband Will Kopelman mentioned he had seen her on the app. “He goes, ‘Why are you on Raya?’ I was like, ‘How do you know? I was on it for four days! Five days! How do you know I’m on Raya?’ He goes, ‘Because I just saw your profile. It came up on my phone.’ I go, ‘When?!’ And he goes, ‘Like two days ago.’ I was like, ‘Motherf–ker!’ I’m still on it! I’m still trying to get off of the site!”
The actress also talked all about her InStyle magazine cover, which features recreations of some of her outlandish childhood outfits.

These memories make me so happy. And I am happy that I haven’t aged like an old leather bag. Have not touched my face ever! People have said I have here and there, funny enough. But I haven’t. I’ve just lived the exact life I wanted. Some messy. Some valiant. But this is just me. Plain old me over a span of almost 40 years!
“We’re sort of looking at fashion now interpreted by the moments of my childhood,” the actress said. “Look at how I’m dressed! it’s shocking I turned out okay. I look like a tiny little animal dressed in fake Chanel.”
Of course, DeGeneres was prepared to recreate another hilarious outfit Barrymore wore as a child that the magazine missed.
“My mom was really cool, she had a lot of artistic friends,” Barrymore said of the picture. “She was smart enough to really care about these amazingly artistic photographers… Ara Gallant, Greg Gorman, and all these wonderful people, and she would sit me in their chairs and have them take pictures of me.”
