Rose McGowan Blames Harvey Weinstein For Former Manager’s Suicide: ‘The Bad Man Did This To Us Both’

Rose McGowan has broken her silence after former manager Jill Messick took her own life, paying tribute while taking aim at Harvey Weinstein.

Messick died by suicide, apparently distraught that Harvey Weinstein used an email she had sent him — outlining her recollections of the period when Rose McGowan alleged he raped her — as a defence against McGowan’s allegations.

While numerous stars paid tribute to Messick via social media, McGowan issued an Instagram post on Saturday implying that Weinstein was directly responsible for Messick’s death.

“For Jill: May your family find some measure of solace during this pain,” wrote McGownan. “That one man could cause so much damage is astounding, but tragically true. The bad man did this to us both. May you find peace on the astral plane. May you find serenity with the stars.”

In a statement issued after her death, Messick’s family revealed that “Harvey took it upon himself to release the e-mail without her consent… seeing her name in headlines again and again, as part of one person’s attempt to gain more attention for her personal cause, along with Harvey’s desperate attempt to vindicate himself, was devastating for her. It broke Jill, who was just starting to get her life back on track.”

Messick, the statement adds, “became collateral damage in an already horrific story.”
