Gigi Hadid is calling for people to have more empathy towards one another.
The famous supermodel addressed comments about how her body has changed over the years in a six-part Twitter rant during the height of New York Fashion Week.
“For those of you so determined to come up with why my body has changed over the years, you may not know that when I started [modelling] at 17 I was not yet diagnosed with Hashimoto’s disease,” she started on Sunday. “Those of u who called me ‘too big for the industry’ were seeing inflammation and water retention due to that.”
Hadid, 22, has gotten a better grasp on her medical condition, but still faces plenty of criticism over the perceived reasons her body looks a certain way.
“Not to judge others, but drugs are not my thing, stop putting me in that box just because you don’t understand the way my body has matured,” continued Hadid.
The supermodel ended her rant on an inspiring note, calling for social media and humanity as a whole to treat one another with open-mindedness and respect.
Hadid’s various tweets generated between 3,000 and 12,000 likes each, at the time of writing. Among those who shared their support for Hadid was fellow model Kendall Jenner.
2018 New York Fashion Week kicked off on Thursday, Feb. 8, and wraps up Friday, Feb. 16.
