Ryan Reynolds is helping celebrate Team Canada at the 2018 PyeongChang Olympics by lending his voice to an Air Canada commercial that celebrates our Olympic athletes as they go for gold in South Korea.
The ad celebrates our home and native land with themes of multiculturalism, compassion, and equality. Reynolds says he feels pride as a Canadian and holds these core values he wishes for his two young daughters to experience.
“I saw myself and my family in this script,” Reynolds said of the campaign.
The 41-year-old Vancouver native and wife Blake Lively are parents to daughters James, 3, and Ines, 1.
“This is my experience of being Canadian, and the experience I want for my daughters. To be proud of where they come from, and of the values shared by all Canadians that are expressed in this ad. I also want them to be able to cheer for Team Canada (and their mother’s team, if she asks you what I said).”
And the actor has definitely been doing just that during the 2018 Winter Olympics, tweeting praise for Team Canada on Tuesday.
After Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir’s historic gold ice-dancing win on Monday, Reynolds tweeted to the duo suggesting a new path for the pair.
Virtue then responded:
Meanwhile, another of Canada’s biggest stars from British Columbia, Michael Buble is featuring in a Juno Awards commercial airing during the Winter Olympics.
The singer displays his sense of humour, hitting the slopes in attractive ski attire before ripping it off to showcase his Junos tuxedo.
