Ellen DeGeneres really made her 60th birthday count.
The daytime host talked about her birthday party, which happened over the weekend, and all the celebrity guests who attended, and in some cases even performed.
“I don’t want to name-drop, but Portia de Rossi was there,” DeGeneres joked. Also there? Diddy, Puffy and Puff Daddy.
“And I know some of you are thinking, Wait a minute Ellen, your birthday was two weeks ago,” she added. “Let me correct you. My birthday started two weeks ago.”
DeGeneres also gave everyone a cost-saving tip for throwing parties. “Don’t hire a band. Invite all your musician friends.”
Among the guests who performed—for free, DeGeneres pointed out in each case—were Pharrell Williams, Pink, Alessia Cara and Melissa Etheridge.
“Here’s another tip: Make sure you invite Reese Witherspoon,” she added. “Because now I see why she’s such an amazing producer. She’s the one who, and I won’t say forced, but strongly suggested everyone should perform.”
Waking up the morning after the party, DeGeneres saw a headline that said the world is facing a shortage of tequila. “I don’t want to blame anyone in particular, but I saw someone sitting at the bar drinking all night long, I’ll just give you her first name: Oprah.”
DeGeneres also thanked de Rossi for throwing the party. “You put on the most amazing party,” she said. “It’s just a party I’ll never forget.”
