When it first hit movie theatres in 1999, “Cruel Intentions” was seen as a sexually charged, envelope-pushing, taboo-busting drama about a nasty rich girl (Sarah Michelle Gellar) who makes a bet with her equally nasty stepbrother (Ryan Phillipe) that he can’t deflower the virginal daughter (Reese Witherspoon) of their private school’s headmaster before the end of semester.

The film remains a cult classic — so much so that a TV reboot had been in the works — but one thing “Cruel Intentions” has never been accused of is being family friendly.

Unless you happen to be watching it on Apple TV, that is, as Gellar was shocked to discover when she was browsing the “Kids & Family” section, only to discover her film wedged between “Despicable Me 3” and “My Little Pony: The Movie”.

“It appears @appletv and I have different ideas on kids viewing,” wrote the former “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” star, who is now the mother of two young children.
