The Karate Kid Returns For ‘Cobra Kai’ Sequel Series With Original Star Ralph Macchio

The “Karate Kid” has returned… except he’s not much of a “kid” anymore.

Thirty-four years later, Ralph Macchio returns to the role of Daniel LaRusso, which he originated in 1984’s “The Karate Kid” to once again face his former high school bully, Johnny Lawrence, played by William Zabka, who also returns. The doors of the infamous dojo have once again been opened for the new YouTube Red series, “Cobra Kai”.

The 10-episode series sees Johnny return to re-open the Cobra Kai, much to the dismay of family man Daniel, now a successful car salesman.

“We are not trained to be merciful here. Mercy is for the weak,” Johnny tells his new group of students, setting the stage for rivalries old and new.

“Cobra Kai” will introduce several new characters into the “Karate Kid” fold including Miguel Diaz, a victim of a high school bully who Johnny takes under his wing. And now Johnny has a son of his own, Robby, who will do whatever it takes to prove he is nothing like his old man.

The series will drop on YouTube Red later this year.
