During a live performance Wednesday night at Caesar’s Palace, one fan threw a string of what appeared to be Mardi Gras beads, striking the singer in the mouth.

The visibly annoyed 70-year-old paused for more than 30 seconds in the middle of singing “Saturday Night’s Alright for Fighting” to check that he was not injured and compose himself before continuing on with the song.

According to TMZ, John had just invited the first row to join him on stage, and the beads were thrown by one of those fans.
