An actress who broke her arm on set while filming a scene with Omar Epps is suing the actor for negligence, assault and battery.
According to documents obtained by People magazine, Donzaleigh Abernathy says she was injured because of Epps’ constant improvisation on the set of the TV show “Shooter”.
The lawsuit alleges the 44-year-old actor “completely deviated from the script” and broke Abernathy’s right arm.
The court documents explain the incident in question occurred while Abernathy was supposed to thrust a knife towards Epps, to which Epps was supposed to “grab her wrist and stop her.”
Instead, Abernathy claims Epps “threw his left forearm with full force at [her] right arm,” which resulted in her injury.
Abernathy was then rushed to a hospital, while production halted.
Also named in the lawsuit as defendants are Viacom and Paramount for failing “to institute reasonable safeguards to prevent [her] injuries.”
