Shania Twain is opening up about how her struggle with lyme disease led her to undertake a complete lifestyle overhaul as she placed her focus on her health.
In an interview with Australia’s Herald-Sun, the Canadian country superstar reveals that she takes her health “very seriously” in order to avoid any future health scares.
“I take my health seriously,” Twain told the newspaper (as reported by the Daily Mail). “There is a lot of discipline involved for me personally, eating properly, getting the right amount of rest, self-care and self-maintenance.”
She added: ‘You have to put the performance first and I take that very seriously.”
Twain, 52, also gets candid about her career, admitting that despite being one of country music’s biggest-selling artists she never really felt she was part of the Nashville establishment.
“I don’t think anything has changed with me and Nashville, to be honest,” added Twain. “I always will be, to some degree, considered an outsider, especially to the country music industry, but not to the fans.”
