The Westboro Baptist Church — which consists primarily of Rev. Fred Phelps and his family — have become notorious for hate-filled anti-gay protests and its nasty motto: “God Hates F***s.”;
The church made headlines last year for protesting the funerals of American soldiers killed in the line of duty, but got more than they bargained for when they decided to picket Dave Grohl and the Foo Fighters.
When the Westboro crew showed up to protest outside the Foos’ concert in Kansas City, Missouri, on Friday, the boys in the band gave them a taste of their own medicine that was a tuneful as it was hilarious.
As the handful of Westboro protesters picketed outside Kansas City’s Sprint Center, the Foo Fighters drove by — very slowly — on the back of a truck, speakers blaring Rick Astley’s “Never Going To Give You Up.”;
Meanwhile, Dave Grohl had a protest sign of his own, reading: “You Got Rick Rolled (Again).”;
Check out this social media documentation of this epic collaboration between Dave Grohl and Rick Astley as the Foo Fighters combat hate with humour:
