Speaking with The Hollywood Reporter, the 88-year-old Oscar nominee was asked about Mark Wahlberg reportedly being paid $1.5 million for the reshoots done when Plummer replaced Kevin Spacey on the film, while actress Michelle Williams only made about $1,000.
“Oh Jesus, it never stops,” Plummer said. “The scandal goes on and on.”
The actor did say that thing worked out alright in the end. “I thought it was good that Mark ended up donating his salary,” he said Wahlberg’s announcement that the heft reshoot fee would be donated to Time’s Up.
Plummer also praised the #MeToo movement. “It’s amazing it has come out. A lot of us knew about certain people,” he said. “God bless women. Now they can come forward and not have to stand for it anymore.”
Asked whether he had known anything about Harvey Weinstein’s alleged sexual misconduct Plummer said, “One had a suspicion, yes. I worked with him ages ago when he was producing and directing animated films. I did voiceovers for him. He was quite nice then. He wasn’t yet a monster.”
