As increasing numbers of women come forward to share their stories of sexual harassment, Oscar-winning “Black Swan” star Natalie Portman is the latest actress to recount an incident involving a male producer that she admits left her “scared.”
In an interview with Porter magazine, reports People, Portman revealed that incidents from her past that she had glossed over have suddenly reappeared in her mind as women open up about their experiences due to the Time’s Up and #MeToo movements.
“I went from thinking, ‘I don’t have a story’ to ‘Oh, wait, I have 100 stories,’” explained Portman, 36. “And I think a lot of people are having these reckonings with themselves, of things that we just took for granted as like, this is part of the process.”
In the interview, Portman recalled one specific incident in which a male producer invited her to fly with her on his private jet.
“It was just the two of us, and only one bed was made up,” she said.

“Nothing happened, I was not assaulted. I did make a point of saying, ‘This does not make me feel comfortable,’ and that was respected. But that was super not OK, you know? That was really unacceptable and manipulative. I was scared,” she said.

“A lot of people have been speaking out for a long time and not been heard, particularly women of colour,” added Portman, “so it’s very important the industry listens.”
