If Mark Hamill joins the Marvel Cinematic Universe, we have Twitter to thank.

On Sunday, a Twitter user named Ian Fee tweeted “Guardians Of The Galaxy” director James Gunn, innocently asking the director to do him “a huge favour” and cast Hamill in the next “Guardians” movie.

Gunn, who frequently engages with fans on Twitter, replied, adding the “Star Wars” legend “lives around the corner” and effectively invited him over for a cup of coffee to chat.

It seems “unemployed actor” Hamill is up for a coffee and a chat, now that his Luke Skywalker days are behind him.

Though there was a hitch in their coffee date plans.

But fans shouldn’t hold their breath that a role will materialize for Hamill in the third “Guardians” film yet. Gunn has written roles for other fan-favourite action stars in his movies, including Sylvester Stallone, Michelle Yeoh and Kurt Russell. But their online conversation has definitely turned more than a few heads.

Super “Star Wars” fan Josh Gad is all of us witnessing this online conversation taking place.
