James Woods, an Oscar-nominated actor best known for his villainous roles, had no problem drawing the ire of local hero and Parkland shooting survivor Emma Gonzalez.
Woods, 70, generated backlash after posting a tweet criticizing three Parkland students for smiling backstage at “The Ellen DeGeneres Show”.
“Grief wears many faces,” Woods critically tweeted a video of Emma Gonzalez, 18, Cameron Kasky and Jaclyn Cori, both 17.

Many Twitter users aired their grievances with Woods, criticizing both the actor and U.S. President Donald Trump for their comments about the tragedy.
But no one made a statement more clear than Gonzalez. “They hate us for smiling, they hate us for crying, they hate us for speaking, they hate us for being alive — they hate us,” she tweeted. “What’s important to remember is that their argument against us is so weak and futile that they have to resort to attacking the people delivering the message.”
The students previously appeared on “Ellen” to express their concerns over gun regulations in the U.S.

“I’ve been acting since kindergarten in Ms. Blakely’s production of The Rainbow People,” Kasky said in response to accusations of being a “crisis actor.” “I was the narrator and since then I’ve been lucky enough to be in Little Shop of Horrors [and] Fiddler On The Roof, and if you’ve seen those you’d know I’m not somebody who deserves any money for acting.”
“We’re not saying no guns,” Gonzalez added. “We are saying we want to regulate semi-automatic weapons and the accessories that make them fully automatic because fully automatic weapons are banned, but the accessories that make semi-automatic aren’t so we want to stop those from getting into the hands of the public.”
