Fans have been wanting Queen Elsa, from Disney’s animated mega-hit “Frozen” to return with a female love interest and according to “Frozen 2”’s director, it might be possible.
Jennifer Lee, the upcoming flick’s co-director, told the Huffington Post that she’s open to the idea, “Where we’re going with it, we have tons of conversations about it, and we’re really conscientious about these things,” she said.
“I love everything people are saying [and] people are thinking about with our film ― that it’s creating dialogue, that Elsa is this wonderful character that speaks to so many people,” Lee continued. “It means the world to us that we’re part of these conversations.”
But there is no guarantee just yet, “I always write from character-out,” Lee added. “And where Elsa is and what Elsa’s doing in her life, she’s telling me every day. We’ll see where we go.”
LGBTQ fans of the film have used the Oscar-winning tune “Let It Go” as a “coming out anthem.” Die-hards went as far as bringing petitions to Disney and starting the hashtag #GiveElsaAGirlfriend.
Even Idina Menzel, the voice of Elsa, has said she is “excited” about the possibility.
“Frozen 2” is aiming to hit theatres in November 2019.
