A cloud of uncertainty continues to surround Ryan Seacrest over accusations of sexual misconduct levelled at the “American Idol” host by his one-time E! network stylist Suzy Hardy. While Hardy insists she’s telling the truth, sharing graphic details of Seacrest’s alleged behaviour in an interview with Variety, Seacrest maintains he’s innocent, alleging that Hardy had been trying to blackmail him (an independent investigation commissioned by E! exonerated Seacrest after finding “insufficient evidence” of Hardy’s claims).
Despite the accusations, Seacrest will be hosting E!’s red carpet at Sunday’s Academy Awards telecast, and host Jimmy Kimmel tells Variety that he’s still planning to be interviewed by Seacrest, both before the Oscars on the red carpet and after the show for “Live With Kelly and Ryan”.
“Of course I will,” Kimmel told Variety if he was still planning to speak with Seacrest. “Listen, you know, we should at the very least afford people the opportunity for truth, what the facts of the story are before hanging them out to dry.”
Asked if he would discuss the allegations, Kimmel said that wasn’t in his plans. “He’s interviewing me,” he explained.
Meanwhile, Kimmel revealed that #MeToo and Time’s Up will be part of this year’s Oscars, but didn’t divulge how much of a part it will be.
“It’ll be a part of the show,” Kimmel told Variety. “I can’t give you a percentage, but it’ll be a part of it. There are certain things and people that deserve mockery, and there are parts of that story that most certainly don’t. You just have to sort through that and plan your approach that way.”
The 90th annual Academy Awards airs Sunday, March 4.
