A tentative agreement in principle has been reached to resolve the dispute regarding a class action suit filed against Sony after confidential employee data was leaked on the Internet following last year’s infamous Sony hack.

At issue is Sony’s assertion that there aren’t enough commonalities to classify it as a class-action suit, claiming damages would be impossible to prove on a class basis (a U.S. District judge would need to approve it as a class action suit in order to proceed).

According to the Hollywood Reporter, the lawsuit is a conglomeration of several individual suits filed after the Sony data breach that has been attributed to the North Korean government. The proposed deal would halt the lawsuit.
