She shot to stardom in “Girls Trip” and now Tiffany Haddish is turning heads on the Oscars red carpet for the most touching reason.
The comedienne arrived on the 2018 Academy Awards red carpet in a traditional Eritrean gown – with its complementary wrap – in honour of her late father Tsehaye Haddish, who was from the African nation.
“My father is from Eritrea and he passed away last year, and he said I’d end up here. And if I ever end up at the #Oscars, [he said to] to honour my people” she told E! News’ Ryan Seacrest. “So, I’m honouring my fellow Eritreans.”
The habesha kemis dress is typically worn by Ethiopian and Eritrean women to formal events. Habesha women usually wear a shawl, called a netela, with the gown.
Haddish looked stunning in the gown and Twitter users couldn’t help but agree.
