Tiffany Haddish: Oscar host?
It’s a distinct possibility after the “Girls Trip” star teamed up with Maya Rudolph to deliver what was arguably the funniest presentation during this year’s awards.
The “Girls Trip” and “Bridesmaids” actresses took the Oscars stage carrying their heels and walking in slippers to present the awards for Best Animated/Live Action Short.
The hilarious comediennes quickly fired off a couple of shots at the pervasive whiteness of the ceremony — and people loved it.
“I know what you’re thinking, are the Oscars too black now? Don’t worry, we were just backstage, and there are still a bunch of white people still to come,” said Haddish.
“We just want to say, don’t worry – there are so many more white people to come tonight,” Rudolph added.
“So many. We just came from backstage and there are tons of them back there,” Haddish continued. “And not just movie stars, there are white people walking around with headsets, white people with clipboards. I’m personally not a fan of white people with clipboards. What are they writing about me?”
The ladies had the whole audience in stitches by the end of their award presentation, and now Haddish is revealing that she’d definitely be open to stepping into Jimmy Kimmel’s shoes to host next year’s awards.
“At the end of the day, I would love to do something like that,” Haddish said at the South by Southwest premiere of her upcoming series “The Last O.G.”, reports Variety. “That would be a dream come true. I know my father would be extremely proud if I got to do that. As long as I get a paycheque.”
In fact, Haddish and Rudolph delivered such a hilarious performance that Twitter users campaigned for the duo to host.
“In my mind, Maya [Rudolph] and I, we auditioned for the ultimate job because I thought we was getting paid for that presentation,” Haddish continued. “And then I found out we didn’t get paid, then I was like, ‘I heard about gift bags.’ And then they were like, ‘We don’t got no gift bags,’ And then I was like ‘Well what do I get?’ and they [said] ‘We got a bottle of wine that’s like $13.’ So I had to buy the wine.”
