Katie Holmes Talks Reunion With ‘Dawson’s Creek’ Cast: ‘We’re Gonna Get Together Soon’

Fans of “Dawson’s Creek” have long been hoping there will someday be a reunion for the hit teen drama and star Katie Holmes says dreams really do come true.

During a Monday night appearance on “The Tonight Show”, the actress revealed that a reunion is finally at hand – although it may not be exactly what fans had been hoping for.

Holmes told host Jimmy Fallon she and former “Dawson’s” co-stars James Van Der Beek, Michelle Williams and Joshua Jackson have solid plans to reunite. “We’re all going to get together,” she said of what is presumably a social gathering, but didn’t elaborate. “So it’ll be really exciting.”

Quipped Fallon: “I can’t wait for the Instagram post.”

Earlier in the interview, Holmes told Fallon that she almost messed up landing the role in “Dawson’s Creek” that would change her life when she decided to skip the audition in order to appear in her high school musical in Toledo, Ohio.

As Holmes explained, she had sent in a rough audition tape for the role of Joey Potter and then received an invitation to Hollywood so she could “come out and test.” Unfortunately, the timing of the audition would have prevented her from taking to the stage for the musical’s opening night.

“So my dad, who’s very wise, he said, ‘Well, Kate, what do you think is the right decision here?'” she told Fallon. “And I said, ‘I think I kinda made a commitment, so I probably can’t break that.'”

As it turned out, Holmes was able to fulfill her obligations playing Lola in “Damn Yankees” and still land the part, as a flub with her audition tape left the show’s creator intrigued.

“The funny thing is, is that Kevin Williamson, who created the show and saw the tape, he said, ‘Katie, I only saw half of your audition because your sister’s volleyball game was taped over it,'” she said. “And I’m still that good at technology. That’s what got me the role, I guess.”

As Holmes reminded Fallon, she and the rest of her co-stars were teenagers when they were cast in “Dawson’s Creek”.

“We were babies,” she added. “We were 18 when we started. Michelle was 16 and it was such a great time.”
