Tommy Lee says his son assaulted him without reason, but Brandon Lee says that could not be further from the truth.
Brandon shared his side of the story in a statement to People: “I’m devastated at the events of the last several days that have been a result of my father’s alcoholism,” read the statement provided by his rep Teal Cannaday.
“I’ve worked tirelessly organizing an intervention and it’s incredibly upsetting that it never came to fruition,” he continued. “I wanted my dad’s hopeful sobriety and recovery to be a private family matter but, as a result of his accusations on social media, I feel forced to speak out.”
Continuing, “I have and will continue to cooperate with law enforcement as needed. I love my father and just want to see him sober, happy and healthy.”
Tommy, 55, responded to his 21-year-old son’s alcoholism allegations on Twitter.
“I’m happier than I’ve been in my entire life,” tweeted the Motley Crue drummer. “I have a few drinks here and there because I’m f**kin’ retired and enjoying my life.”
“I worked 30-plus f**kin’ years I deserve it,” he added. “You didn’t arrange any intervention, you barely spoke to me while u were here. Just coverin’ ur a**!”
The rock star previously accused his son of busting into his room unprovoked and knocking him unconscious.
Tommy’s ex-wife and Brandon’s mom Pamela Anderson addressed the family feud for the first time on Thursday in a letter titled “Alcoholism is the Devil.”
“This is a matter of life and death,” the Canadian actress wrote on her website. “I am staying in France for the moment. I have complete faith in Brandon and his team to resolve this unfortunate and sad situation regarding his father.”
“I pray Tommy gets the help he needs,” she continued. “His actions are desperate and humiliating – he is a disaster spinning out of control and he is not acting like a father.”
Anderson, 50, said Tommy’s alleged drinking problem is old news: “My sons have made every attempt to help him in recent months – staying with him to make sure he’s okay.”
“Him blaming his son or us for anything is delusional,” she explained. “We have all tried to protect him and help him for too long. Hoping he’d look after himself better… This matter is ideally between just a father and a son.”
Anderson confirmed she has blocked all communication with her ex-husband and would only contact him under one condition. “I will never talk to Tommy again before he is sober and in his right mind,” she revealed.
Despite not being present during the incident, she backed Brandon’s claims of self-defence: “I stand beside my son who acted out of self-defence and was scared for his life.”
Anderson put much of the blame on Lee’s new fiancee. “He is sick. The definition of narcissist/sociopath,” added Anderson. “His fiancee keeps him drunk – this is what he wants – someone to behave badly with.”
Brandon was apparently “putting together an intervention (along with friends and people Tommy works with and admired,)” before the scuffle.
The former “Baywatch” star praised her son’s character. “Brandon has risked everything to save his father,” she wrote. “He takes his career very seriously. He does not touch alcohol or drugs – (he understands his genetics) and is an example to many.”
“But he has put all on hold for dealing with this,” she continued. “His family – his brother and our family is his priority. Believe me. He punched him in the nose for all of us who he has hurt.”
“Tommy feels humiliated – and is attempting to destroy his own son,” the statement concluded. “This is the Devil – this is the disease of alcoholism.”
