Canadian Screen Awards week continues with the Creative Fiction Storytelling category winners announced at Wednesday’s ceremony, hosted by “Kim’s Convenience” star Andrew Phung who won the Best Supporting Actor trophy for his comedy role.

Among the night’s winners were Global’s “Mary Kills People”, YTV’s “Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs” and History’s “Vikings”.

While The Canadian Academy’s top acting, series and film awards will be handed out on Sunday night, Wednesday’s event included children’s programming and sketch comedy categories.

Best Animated Series was awarded to YTV’s “Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs” while “Odd Squad” took home the award for Best Children’s Program.

On the live-action side, R.H. Thomson won the Best Supporting Actor for “Anne” and Allie MacDonald won Best Supporting Actress for “Cardinal”. Steven McCarthy was named the winner of the Best Guest Performance for his role as Morgan in Global’s “Mary Kills People”.

Meanwhile, the Margaret Atwood adaptation “Alias Grace” earned four awards, including Best Direction in a Drama or Limited Series for Mary Harron, while Sarah Polley claimed the Best Writing award.

“Baroness von Sketch Show” also claimed four awards, including Best Writing in a Variety or Sketch Comedy and Best Sketch Comedy Series.

Also making a statement at the gala on Wednesday in Toronto was the homegrown #AfterMeToo movement. Canadian Academy members and their guests walked the red carpet ahead of the event wearing #AfterMeToo pins in a show of solidarity against sexual violence.

“We hope that people will be wearing our pins and be talking about the problem of workplace sexual harassment,” movement co-founder, actress Mia Kirshner told CBC. “The problem has not stopped, and solutions have not been created yet. By wearing the pin, it’s representative of lending their voice to helping this stop.”
