In case you were worried the massive success of “Black Panther” would be a one-off deal, it was confirmed Friday the film will be getting a sequel.
Speaking to Entertainment Weekly about the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, studio head Kevin Feige happily confirmed the news.
“Nothing specific to reveal, other than to say we absolutely will do that,” Feige said when asked whether a sequel was in the works. “One of the favourite pastimes at Marvel Studios is sitting around on a part one and talking and dreaming about what we would do in a part two.”
He says when creating the first film, they came up with where the story could go in the follow-up film: “We have ideas and a pretty solid direction on where we want to head with the second one.”
Feige also addressed the possibility of having “Black Panther” spin-offs with fan-favourite characters.
“I think Shuri’s astounding, and you’ll see much more of her in our universe. Okoye, I think I’d watch three action films just Okoye. I’m not saying we’re doing that, but I’m saying that we’re intrigued by them, he explained. “Frankly, as I’ve said before, finishing these first 22 movies is really all we’re thinking about at this point.”
