Is that Green Day?
Why, yes, yes it is. The beloved punk rock band performed under the aptly named pseudonym “The Coverups” on Thursday night at the 100-person capacity Thee Parkside in San Francisco.
The Coverups strictly performed covers from other bands’ catalogues, including songs from Tom Petty, Davie Bowie, and The Who.
Green Day previously headlined other small gigs under the alias in January and earlier in the week at the Ivy Room in Albany, California.
The Coverups is not even Green Day’s first fake band name. The four-time Grammy winners have also performed as The Network and Foxboro Hot Tubs in the past.
Green Day last released an album in 2016 with their 12th studio effort “Revolution Radio”.
