Elsie Fisher Relives Awkward Middle-School Drama In First Trailer For ‘Eighth Grade’

The official trailer for the upcoming movie “Eighth Grade” has been unveiled ahead of the eagerly anticipated July 13 release date.

The new flick, which stars Elsie Fisher as 13-year-old Kayla, follows the teenager as she deals with the struggles of being in her final week of middle school.

The Bo Burnham-directed film, which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival, focuses on Kayla’s crushes, social anxiety, acne, as well as how she deals with the mean girls of the school.

Kayla tells her YouTube subscribers in the recently released clip: “The topic of today’s video is being yourself. Being yourself can be hard. It’s like, Aren’t I always being myself?

Fisher, 14, told ION Cinema when the film premiered at Sundance earlier this year: “It’s just about this character I relate to as a person, she’s just this awkward person and I really like that compared to a lot of other projects that I’ve done.”

The upcoming movie also stars Josh Hamilton, Emily Robinson, Missy Yager, and Greg Crowe.
