“Good Morning America” is getting to the bottom of the “love triangle” between an “American Idol” contestant, his girlfriend, and Katy Perry.
Construction worker Trevor Holmes wowed judge Perry with his swoon-worthy audition earlier this week, leading the “I Kissed A Girl” singer to declare him “hot.” Even fellow judge Luke Bryan called Holmes a “dreamboat.”
Holmes, who admitted he had a crush on Perry, says most people never think they’ll actually get to meet their celebrity crush. He says singing in front of the “I Kissed A Girl” singer was a “surreal” experience that he can’t really put into words.
But his girlfriend Sierra, who appeared next to him in their interview from Los Angeles, tells “GMA” she is okay with his Katy connection.
“I was fully supportive of it. We all have celebrity crushes but it was really funny because when they asked me to run in I was just beelining towards him and I had no idea I cut Katy off,” she says, describing the moment Holmes found out he was through to the next stage of the competition. “We even laughed about it and I told her we could share him.”
“It’s been so surreal, it’s always been one of those things you dream about,” he says of the “American Idol” process.
