Is there a Drake tennis curse? Many on social media seem to think so.
After beating her older sister Venus in the lead-up to the U.S. Open semifinals Tuesday, Serena Williams lost to unseeded player Roberta Vinci 6-2, 4-6, 4-6.
But many don’t seem to believe it was Williams’ fault – placing the blame on the tennis pro’s rumoured boyfriend, Drake, who was in attendance during the New York match.
“Drake is the Jessica Simpson to Serena’s Tony Romo,”; one person tweeted, referencing the supposed curse that the pop star bestowed on her Dallas Cowboys boyfriend in 2009.
Another tweeted, “Drake holding you back Serena. Meek ain’t holding back Nicki,”; bringing up Drake’s mortal enemy, rapper Meek Mill, and his relationship with Nicki Minaj.
And yet another Twitter user listed a string of the rapper’s jinxes, posting, “Drake has now successfully cursed the Heat, Kentucky, Serena, Tidal, and MMG.”;
