It’s just one week until the eagerly-anticipated “Frozen: The Broadway Musical” makes its debut and Disney have now unveiled the latest song from the upcoming show.
Patti Murin, who is set to take on the role of Princess Anna in the musical for the hit 2013 movie, can be seen belting out the emotional “True Love” lyrics in a recently-released clip. The character will perform the ballad late in act two while freezing to death.
Songwriters Robert Lopez and Kristen Anderson-Lopez recently spoke to Vulture about the big solo.
Anderson-Lopez explained of how the song references young Anna’s identity: “It’s a deeper, more sophisticated, grown-up version of the same problem of knocking at a door and no-one answering.”
She went on to say that it’s the song for anyone who grew up wanting to live life like a Disney princess, only to later realize that this wouldn’t necessarily be the case.
“Had it been out before I was married and I was single and heartbroken,” she continued. “I would have locked myself in a room and listened to it over and over again.”
The Broadway production of the family film will feature 12 brand new original songs, with bosses releasing a new song from the soundtrack every week up until the musical’s March 22 opening.
Other tracks have included “What Do You Know About Love?”, which is a duet between Anna and Kristoff (played by Jelani Alladin) and “Dangerous to Dream”, which is an Elsa (Caissie Levy) solo.
