Every year has its tear-jerker film and this year it comes in the form of “Miss You Already” starring Drew Barrymore and Toni Collette. We caught up with Drew at the Toronto International Film Festival premiere on Saturday to talk all about her latest role.

Drew admits to being very different from the character she plays in “Miss You Already” telling ET Canada’s Natasha Gargiulo that her inspiration came from her some of her nearest and dearest. “I was channelling all of my friends who are much more of the mature rocks in my life, and I feel like I’ve always been much more like Toni’s character, just more tornado-ish”

“I really channelled the people that I’ve always looked up to and wanted to become like. And hopefully I am more like that person in my life now and so I pretended to be that person in this film.”
As for keeping the tears at bay, she jokes, “Catherine (the director) made me keep it together!” And Drew trusted her directorial instincts: “I think when it’s just too heavy you revolt…I think when people aren’t crying it inadvertently makes you cry harder sometimes.”
