Aretha Franklin’s doctor is requesting the legendary singer cancel her upcoming Toronto show due to undisclosed health reasons.
The 76-year-old singer was due to perform at TD Toronto Jazz Festival in June, but according to a representative for the festival she “has been ordered not to perform in the coming months.”
A makeup concert will be scheduled for later in the summer.
Last month, Franklin’s management team announced that she would be canceling a number of upcoming concerts, the Associated Press reported.
The Queen of Soul was scheduled to perform at the New Jersey Performing Arts Centre on March 25, her birthday.
The statement said Franklin “has been ordered by her doctor to stay off the road and rest completely for at least the next two months.”
This also resulted in the cancellation of her scheduled concert at the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival on April 28.
Franklin is “extremely disappointed she cannot perform as she had expected and hoped to,” the statement continued.
