At the Sun Valley Film Festival is Idaho, Gwyneth Paltrow gives details on being a “working mom” and how she carefully chooses her projects – whether that’s appearing in “Avengers: Infinity War” or on her fiance’s new series.
“I don’t do a lot of acting right now, so when I do I look for what’s going to have the best ROI in terms of time and impact,” the 45-year-old actress explained as she accepted the Sun Valley Film Festival Vision Award. “It’s fun to do something like ‘The Avengers’. I get to go to Atlanta for two days, see my friends, do a scene with Robert [Downey Jr.], come home.”

Next up for Paltrow is a small role on “The Politican”, a new Netflix original comedy series executive produced by her fiance Brad Falchuk and written and directed by “American Crime Story” and “Glee” creator Ryan Murphy.
“I just agreed to do my fiance’s new TV show and it’ll be two days per episode,” the actress says. “I can’t do more than that. So, it’s like a puzzle to try to put it together. I look for things that will be fun and or I’ll learn something.”
“The Politician” plot details are being kept under wraps, but will feature “Pitch Perfect” actor Ben Platt as a wealthy young man with political aspirations. There’s no word on who Paltrow will play in the series.
Mom to Apple, 13, and Moses, 11, Paltrow has some advice when it comes to balancing life as a mom and being a female role model for her kids, especially at a time where more doors are opening up for women.
“My first pointer for being a working mom is – and not that I follow this all the time, but I strive to – to be proud of your work,” the Goop entrepreneur says. “I want to set an example of someone that is proud of what she is doing so that the time spent away from our children is emboldening us and building us up as women. I want to make sure that we’re bringing home something as mothers to our kids.”
Paltrow says she tries to limit her time on her phone and laptop when she’s at home with her kids.
“I try to do one thing at a time and that’s sort of my philosophy,” she says. “I don’t always achieve it, but I try.”
