Patrick Carney says Jack White is a bully that’s “basically Billy Corgan’s dumb ass zero t-shirt in human form.”; Well, at least that was his stance before a peace accord was reached earlier today.
The Black Keys drummer relayed a story on Twitter this morning of how White attempted to pick a fight with him last night. The two parties have never really been buddy-buddy, especially with White’s stating in private emails that he considered The Black Keys to be a rip-off of his style. White, who notoriously pummelled Von Bondies frontman Jason Stollsteimer a decade back, is also no stranger when it comes to rock pugilism.
The tweets, which have now almost entirely been deleted, allege that White tried to fight Carney at a New York bar.
“Not sure what he’s unhappy with cuz I just liked Zeppelin a lot and wanted to play guitar. Cut my pinky off and ended up being a drummer,”; wrote Carney in one of the deleted tweets.
The “Tighten Up”; sticksman summed up the encounter as a “40 year old bully”; trying to fight a “35 year old nerd.”;
“Jack white is basically billy corgan’s dumb ass zero t-shirt in human form,”; read the most quoteworthy tweet of the deleted bunch.
Entertainment Weekly reached out to Jack White for his take on Carney’s claims and received a statement in return.
“Nobody tried to fight you, Patrick,”; reads White’s statement. “Nobody touched you or ‘bullied’ you. You were asked a question you couldn’t answer so you walked away. So quit whining to the Internet and speak face to face like a human being. End of story.”;
Not too long after the statement was sent out into the world, Carney and White came to a resolution that had Carney describing their co-existence status as “all good.”; Peace has (at least temporarily) been achieved!
Talked to jack for an hour he’s cool. All good.
