There’s no denying Dwayne Johnson is a good son, and he proved it by gifting his father a special present after he underwent hip replacement surgery — thanks to a not-so-subtle hint.

In an Instagram post on Monday, Johnson shared the hilarious anecdote, beginning by noting, “We all got daddy issues lol.”

According to The Rock, his 73-year-old father — former pro wrestler Rocky Johnson — recently had his hip replaced, and informed his son that since the operation, “The surgeon really feels I should have a bigger car since my hip rehab.”

As Johnson, 45, writes, “I cut my dad off and just started laughing because I knew what he was hustling for.”

When all was said and done, Johnson’s father is now the proud owner of a shiny (and big!) new Cadillac Escalade.

We all got daddy issues lol. My pops just had his hip replaced and called me and said “Hey Mr. D the surgeon really feels like I should have a bigger car since my hip rehab..” I cut my dad off and just started laughing because I knew what he was hustling for. I said “say no more..I got you.. just go down and pick out what you want” then we hung up and hours later I get this pic. Lol. Hey my old man was a tough MF on me. He’d kick my ass from one side of the gym to the other for years. I hated it when I was a kid, but grateful for it as a man. Im lucky I could do this and thanks for the ass kickins. Thanks Shawn Burnett and Ed Morse Cadillac for handling business for me and finding the gold bow. #MyDoctorSaid #NewHipsAndWhips

Johnson has paid tribute to his father many times over the years, including this Facebook post from 2015 in which he praises the elder Johnson as “a trailblazing bad dude in the game — becoming the first African-American Champion in almost every pro-wrestling organization he wrestled in.”
