DJ Khaled is getting healthy and making all of his Oprah dreams come true thanks to the Weight Watchers Freestyle Program.
“I always said I’m going to meet Oprah and one day I’m going to work with Oprah,” he tells ET Canada during an exclusive interview on the Toronto stop of his Khaled Kitchen food truck tour. “And now I’m at Weight Watchers and she tweets me and supports me and she’s helping me through my journey.”
The 42-year-old music mogul made a commitment to start making some positive changes in his life and health by partnering with Weight Watchers as their newest social media ambassador. Dropping 30 pounds since January, when the brand announced Khaled as their new spokesperson, shares in the company stock jumped 8 per cent. Since the beginning of the year, he’s been sharing his weight loss journey on his social media channels and demonstrating how to use the brand’s SmartPoints system for healthy eating.
While meeting longtime Weight Watchers ambassador Oprah may have been a motivation, DJ Khaled is embarking on his weight loss journey for his 1-year-old son, Asahd.
“When he’s playing soccer, running around, you know, playing with his toys I can catch up with him,” he says of the changes he’s seen in himself since dropping the pounds. “And that’s what it’s about, having fun with your children.”
The record producer says Asahd has changed his life in unexpected ways, teasing that a bigger brood could be in his future.
“Me and my queen talk all the time, we would love to have more children,” he says. “I thought I had experienced what love was until I met my son. And he just changed my life. He’s my son!”
