Even when she was a child, Meghan Markle dreamed of being royalty.
In old home video footage published by The Daily Mail, the royal-to-be is seen as an eight-year-old, playing “queen” at her friend’s birthday party.

The video was shot on Jan. 29, 1990, by the mother of Markle’s childhood friend and birthday girl Ninaki Priddy.
“The show was called ‘Your Royal Highness’ and the star was Meg,” Priddy recalled to The Daily Mail, after her mother recently discovered the video. “It’s very funny to see this now and given what is going on with her life it’s quite eye-opening.”
“She was always the centre of attention, always the ringleader – it was my birthday but she took the starring role!” Priddy added.
Markle, now 36, is seen in the video ordering her friends around, telling one of them to “make 900,000 cookies and sew me a nice dress.”
“Oh, thank you, Your Highness,” says another friend when Markle gives the kids a 10-minute break.

“It wasn’t something we had done before. She just came up with it on the spot,” Priddy said. “My parents were in the audio-video industry so we always had a camera around. We would do little videos.”
Meghan Markle is currently getting ready to be a royal in real life. Her wedding to Prince Harry is set for May 19.
