Jeff Goldblum admitted he got a panicked phone call from his mom Shirley when he fell victim to a death hoax back in 2009.
The 65-year-old appeared on “Watch What Happens Live” with Andy Cohen on Monday and was quizzed about whether or not anybody had been affected by the rumours.
Goldblum explained: “Yes, someone had put online that I had fallen off a cliff in New Zealand.”
“Before we got the word out and I could call everybody, yes, my mom. She called and was like, ‘Jeffrey, are you alright? Are you alright?’” he said.
The actor continued to say of the hoax, which is thought to have been started by a spoof website, “And then a friend of mine [who] very tearfully and hysterically left a message.”
During Monday’s “WWHL” appearance, Goldblum was also asked about some recent comments he made to Entertainment Tonight in regards to Ellie Sattler aka. Laura Dern possibly returning to star in one of the “Jurassic World” movies.
“I don’t know for sure, I can’t divulge anything,” he insisted, before adding: “But maybe, maybe she will.”
Goldblum previously revealed: “I don’t want to pass on gossip like my character. But it would be good news to me and to everyone, [to] millions and billions of people all over the world… all over the universe and cosmos when Ellie Sattler returns.”
