Kiefer, 18, was driving back to college when the accident occurred. He was hit from behind by a vehicle driven by a woman who was distracted by her phone. The collision sent Kiefer’s car across the highway median into oncoming traffic. He collided with another vehicle and died.
The young man’s father is GM executive Steve Kiefer. “My friend Steve experienced a devastating loss of his son due to a distracted driver,” Wahlberg said.

“Distracted driving is the number one killer of young people,” the actor continued. “In fact, 10 people are killed every day by distracted drivers. These are terrible stats.”
Wahlberg pledged to put his phone down and #JustDrive. “I don’t want to lose one more person to this preventable killer.”
