Comedians Slam ‘Dangerous And Demented’ Roseanne Barr For Pro-Trump Political Views After ‘Roseanne’ Revival’s Monster Ratings

The “Roseanne” revival debuted to some shockingly high ratings, with more than 18 million viewers tuning in to catch up with the Conner family in Tuesday’s one-hour premiere — the biggest ratings for a network comedy since the 2014 season premiere of “The Big Bang Theory”.

In a cluttered TV landscape in which 10 million viewers is considered a huge success, those are some seriously big numbers — especially given the Trump-supporting politics of star Roseanne Barr.

While reviews for the show have been generally positive, Barr’s political views are causing consternation for some of her fellow comedians, who took to social media to slam the 65-year-old “Roseanne” star for her support of Trump.

One of those stars is “Billy on the Street” star Billy Eichner, who joked that if the show is a hit, “they should do an ‘I Love Lucy’ reboot where it turns out Lucy loves Stalin.”

Kumail Nanjiani (“The Big Sick”, “Silicon Valley”) also threw in his two cents:

Despite her support of Hillary Clinton in the 2016 presidential election, Sarah Silverman loved the revival, writing on Twitter: “Hope y’all let go of needing art 2 reflect/express only what u yourself feel. That’s not what art’s 4.”

Nanjiani took issue with Silverman’s viewpoint, leading to a Twitter conversation between the two.

Eichner weighed in, supporting Nanjiani’s view.

Also weighing in: “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” star Chelsea Peretti, who warned of the dangers when “you normalize this hateful man.”
