Critical darlings Arcade Fire were plunked in the role of reviewer by CBC Radio this week for the station’s “Jam or Not a Jam?”; segment.

Win Butler, Régine Chassagne and Tim Kingsbury (who comprise three of the 286 members of Arcade Fire) were all tasked with listening to a selection of tunes and determining if they are worthy of jam status. Current hits were mixed in with familiar classics and a healthy dose of Canadian content was glazed onto the proceedings.

The results?

Chassagne and Kingsbury were not all that fond of the Mark Ronson + Bruno Mars smash “Uptown Funk”; and shifted into theatrical expressions of disgust and sleepiness when presented with The Weeknd’s “Can’t Feel My Face.”; This is the sort of thing that might get them booted off a Christmas card list.

A few cuts earned “jam”; status during the evaluation, with Butler offering up a mild endorsement of Jack Ü’s “Where Are You Now?”; that he pegged as “the best Justin Bieber song that Diplo’s ever produced.”;
