Ariana Grande’s army of fans bombarded YouTuber James Charles with tweets after he called the singer “rude” in a recent video.
The 18-year-old social media star was starring in a clip alongside fellow YouTubers Shane Dawson and Ryland Adams when he made the comments about Grande, 24.
Calling the singer the “rudest celebrity,” Charles explained: “I went to her show here in L.A. I posted a bunch of videos from the night, and she had DMed me, like, ‘Thank you for coming!’ She was so sweet.
“She followed me and DMed me. She was like, ‘I wish I knew you were coming. I would’ve loved to have you backstage.'”
However, Grande’s fans were quick to pick up on a scandal involving the teenager, with previous posts resurfacing online which saw him joke about contracting Ebola while on a trip to Africa, amongst other things.
Grande is then said to have unfollowed the beauty guru after her fans brought the articles to light, with Charles ranting in the vid: “I sent back a strong-worded message to her and was like, ‘You have 100 million fans. It’s really disappointing that you’d stoop to the level of listening to people bullying me just to appease them, but OK.'”
He did add that he still thinks Grande is extremely talented, though.
Unsurprisingly, it didn’t take long for the “One Last Time” star’s fans to take to Twitter to defend their favourite singer after Charles shared his video online over the weekend.
