It’s fitting that social media supermodel, Gigi Hadid, is on the cover of Elle Canada‘s November digital issue dressed in a custom Michael Kale.
Hadid is a part of a different generation of supermodels who have reached the top with the help of her 6.3 million Instagram followers. The blonde bombshell is big on promoting female powerhouse friendships—like her friendship with Taylor Swift, which has everyone hash-tagging #squadgoals. She was even listening and dancing to her bestie’s soundtrack on set of the magazine shoot.
“Social media really has helped every industry really connect with the people who are supporting them, the people who want to get an inside scoop and experience the world they wouldn’t otherwise be able to,” says the Maybelline New York spokesmodel.
With having many followers and supporters, there are bound to be haters that aren’t always easy to just shake off. The bombshell took to Instagram today to defend her body type saying, ‘So many people are so quick to comment negative opinions this month. Yes, judgement on social media comes from people who, 99 per cent of the time, have no idea what they’re talking about, but I’m human, and I’m not going to lie, I did let the negativity get to me a little.”
This body shaming online harassment came after Hadid posted a half-naked selfie on her Instagram. Hadid said, “Yes I have boobs, I have abs, I have a butt, I have thighs, but I’m not asking for special treatment.”
//platform.instagram.com/en_US/embeds.js“Your mean comments don’t make me want to change my body, they don’t make me want to say no to the designers that ask me to be in their shows, and they definitely don’t change the designers opinions of me.” Gigi followed up her Instagram post with some tweets including the hashtag #ALLDIFFERENTALLPERFECT. Alongside that she did a shout out to some body types she’s a fan of including; Ashley Graham, Taylor Swift, Beyonce, Candice Huffine, Candice Swanpoel, and Rihanna.

Plus- size model Ashley Graham is no stranger to social media body shaming, and only had love for Hadid saying, “; I love your body #EverybodyIsBeautiful.”; She also received support and praise from Kris Jenner and supermodel Tyra Banks, “; From one model that had curves and a unique walk to another, Tyra.”;
//platform.twitter.com/widgets.jsSomeone who definitely doesn’t want Gigi to change is her new beau Joe Jonas. The two were seen on the streets of Paris at Cafe de Flore after her busy week of work during Milan Fashion Week. Jonas couldn’t be more proud of his girlfriend posting, “My Girl Just Killed It,” on Instagram from the front row of Versace Spring/ Summer 2016.
