Amber Heard has lived up to her promise to donate her $7-million divorce settlement to charity, with the website of Children’s Hospital Los Angeles listing the actress among its list of donors in its 2017 financial report.
According to the report, “Ms. Amber Heard” is listed as a donor, donating an unspecified amount between $1 million and $5 million.
Following her split from Depp in May 2016, Heard announced in a statement that she would donate the entire $7 million to various charities. As she had indicated she would split the money equally between the hospital and the American Civil Liberties Union, it can be assumed that each organization received $3.5 million.
“As described in the restraining order and divorce settlement, money played no role for me personally and never has, except to the extent that I could donate it to charity and, in doing so, hopefully help those less able to defend themselves,” said Heard in a statement issued in August 2016.
“As reported in the media, the amount received in the divorce was $7 million and $7 million is being donated. This is over and above any funds that I have given away in the past and will continue to give away in the future.”
“The donation will be divided equally between the ACLU, with a particular focus to stop violence against women, and the Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles, where I have worked as a volunteer for the past 10 years alongside organizations like the Art of Elysium,” she added.
“We are honoured to acknowledge our extraordinary donors for their generosity during fiscal year 2017,” notes the hospital in the report. “On behalf of all the children and families whose lives you have impacted, and everyone at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, we offer our sincere thanks.”
