Tiffany Haddish stopped by “Late Night” on Monday and gave host Seth Meyers a helping hand.
As Meyers explained, he often gets handed jokes by his writers that he cannot easily tell given that he’s a straight, white man. Instead, he has two of his writers, a black woman and a lesbian, help him out by delivering the punchlines to the jokes.
After a few great laughs in the segment, the audience got a big surprise as the show’s guest Haddish decided to join in on the fun.
Haddish also sat down to talk to Meyers about whale watching and turning down an opportunity to audition for Best Picture nominee “Get Out”.
“When [Jordan Peele] asked me to audition for it, I was like, ‘Aw, man, I don’t do scary movies, dawg,'” she explained. “‘I don’t do that, that’s demonized kind of stuff. I don’t let that in my house.'”
“I’ll watch it in the daytime,” she told Peele, “but I’m not going to be in it.”
Also in the interview, Haddish talked about her dream of having Meryl Streep join the cast of “Girls Trip 2” to play her mom.
“I think it would be so cool if we find out that Dina has a white mom,” she said. “All the other girls, [Jada Pinkett Smith], [Regina Hall] and Queen Latifah, were like, ‘How is that even possible? How are you going to pull that off?’”
“Well she could have married my dad,” Haddish continued, adding that we would find out Dina became the way she is because of her cool stepmom. “If you see Meryl Streep turnt [sic] up like me, you’ll be like, ‘She can do anything!’”
