Amal Clooney Says Issue With Guns In U.S. Is ‘How Widely And Easily Available They Are’

Amal Clooney is calling for stricter gun control laws in the U.S.

The famous human rights advocate addressed the controversial issue in her May 2018 cover profile for Vogue.

“I’ve seen lots of commentaries where people have tried to say, ‘This isn’t about having too many guns or allowing semi-automatic and automatic weapons to be purchased too easily—surely this is about mental health, or about violence and movies,’” she explained.

“The fact is, there are violent movies all over the world, and there are mental-health issues in other countries. But this doesn’t happen in other developed countries,” Clooney continued. “The difference is guns, and how widely and easily available they are.”

Clooney, 40, has not been shy about her stance on gun violence in the country. The international human-rights barrister and husband George Clooney donated half a million dollars to March for Our Lives in Washington, D.C.

They also attended the March for Our Lives event on March 24.
