What To Watch With Your Pet On #NationalPetDay

In honour of #NationalPetDay, we are rounding up some of the best shows to watch with your pet.

“Hawaii Five-0” introduced Eddie to the Five-0 task force in season 8, and it’s no surprise that he became an instant favourite on set!

“I love Eddie, man,” Alex O’Loughlin told us during our recent set visit. “That dog, man…,” adding that everyone should “tune in for Eddie!”

And over on Friday nights on Global, “Madam Secretary” recently upped their “cute” factor, showcasing a couple of bomb-sniffing dogs of their own.

And for all those luxurious pet owners who tune in to “Vanderpump Rules” on Slice, we can’t forget the most stylish dog in BH:  Giggy! Thankfully getting over an illness that saw him airlifted from Aspen back to Beverly Hills, Giggy is still living a life of luxury with paw-mom Lisa Vanderpump, who puts it best when she says, “I worship the ground he never walks on.”

For Riverdale fans, the recent addition of Jughead’s dog Hot Dog was a big moment in the Netflix series but it apparently created some controversy on-set between star Cole Sprouse and showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa.

“He was originally pitched as like a pit bull,” Sprouse told Seth Meyers, revealing that he was dead-set on keeping the dog the same as the comics. “And I thought, Okay, we gotta try to find a way to get an English sheepdog. So for a week, I was trying to wear [showrunner Roberto Aguirre Sacasa] down about this.”

Fans of the show will know that Sprouse eventually got his way.

And thanks to a recent survey done by Netflix, you can rest easy if your favourite binge partner is your pet! According to the survey, four out of five Canadians have watched Netflix with their pet, with 61% finding their pets to be the best binge partners. Not surprising since we can’t remember the last time our pet stole the remote or binged without us.

The study also found that one in three have turned to their fur baby for comfort during a sad or scary scene and that 22 per cent of people have talked to their pet about the show or movie they were watching.  44 per cent of pet owners will actually give up their favourite spot on the couch for their furry friend! Now, that’s pet parenting at its finest!
