It’s been four years since Jim Carrey appeared in a lead role in a feature film, now, he’s back with the new crime thriller “Dark Crimes”.
Aside from a small supporting role in “The Bad Batch” and as the subject of the “Man On The Moon” documentary “Jim & Andy”, Carrey hasn’t appeared as the lead in a film since 2014’s “Dumb And Dumber To”. This month, he’s set to make his return to the screen, albeit the small one, as a tormented policeman on the hunt for a killer in the VOD thriller “Dark Crimes”.
The trailer for the grim movie sees Carrey’s character, Tadek, discover similarities between an unsolved murder and sex crime to a novel by a famous crime writer (played by Marton Csokas). Determined to tie the writer to the crimes, Tadek develops a dangerous obsession with the writer’s girlfriend, a sex club worker played by Charlotte Gainsbourg.
Though Carrey has taken a break from the acting spotlight, he’ll soon be seen starring and executive producing the upcoming Showtime series “Kidding” which premieres in the fall of 2018. He’s also the executive producer of the series “I’m Dying Up Here” starring Melissa Leo which will premiere its second season in May.
“Dark Crimes” will appear on DirectTV on April 19 and on VOD on May 18.
