Leave it to Reba McEntire to call out the very show she is hosting for a lack of female representation.
McEntire, 63, tackled the issue during her opening monologue at Sunday’s Academy of Country Music Awards. “Have you seen the Entertainer of the Year category? Five men, no women. Looks like singles night at the Holiday Inn,” she joked.
“This year I’m following some guys who have done such a great job as hosts. Luke and Dierks, and before that, Luke and Blake,” McEntire explained. “I guess they finally figured out that it only takes one woman to do the job of two men… I really do love you both, all three of you.”
Her comments likely did not upset the awards show that much, after all, they posted her comments on Twitter.
