CBC Cancels Daytime Series ‘The Goods’

After two seasons, “The Goods” has been cancelled by CBC.

The daytime series with hosts Jessi Cruickshank, Steven Sabados, Andrea Bain, and Shahir Massoud taped its final episode last week. The program will continue to air its remaining episodes through to May 10.

CBC’s executive director of unscripted content Jennifer Dettman says the decision was not based on ratings but on the network’s push towards digital content.

“We are proud of the show,” Dettman says, acknowledging that the decision to end the series “is part of our ongoing redirection of programming budgets from television to digital content.”

“The Goods” was one of the remaining studio-audience tapings at CBC’s main broadcast centre in Toronto. Rick Mercer recently made the decision to end the studio-filmed “Rick Mercer Report” after 15 seasons on the network.
